The
VOLK Diesel Platform Truck DFW 3 can be optionally equipped with an ETB diesel particle filter (model ECR 30). Diesel particle filters filter out soot particles contained in diesel motor emissions and are therefore required by law for
use in closed buildings. Because the soot separation of the model ECR 30 is approximately 98%, almost no harmful particles reach the environment.
Since the retained soot particles accumulate in the filter in the course of time,
diesel particle filters must be cleaned or regenerated regularly. To guarantee maximum user friendliness, the model ECR 30 is equipped with an internal regeneration system. This means that the filter does not have to be removed out of
the vehicle in order to be cleaned, as is still usual in many cases. Instead the vehicle is simply connected to a 220 volt power outlet with an extension cable. Then the filter is electrically heated by the automatically operating
regeneration system for a period of approx. 1 hour. The soot particles retained in the filter burn into almost solely harmless substances such as water vapor and carbon dioxide at an electronically controlled temperature.
To make
sure regeneration is not forgotten in the hectic rush of daily business, the particle level in the filter is continuously monitored by a self-diagnosis system. When regeneration is necessary, this is indicated to the driver by a control
light in the driver’s cab
