VOLK Diesel Platform Trucks – Special-purpose vehicles for exceptional applications and requirements

VOLK Diesel Platform Trucks come with standard payloads of 2.000 kg to 5.000 kg. In addition to our series-produc-
tion vehicles, we also offer special-purpose vehicles built to your individual specifications. Whether your application requires an extra-high payload or you need a specially dimensioned loading area for your goods, we will be happy to provide the right vehicle for your needs.

Thanks to a consistent common component and platform strategy, these special vehicles also benefit from synergy effects with mass-produced products, thus guaranteeing you an optimal cost/performance ratio. For a customer in the steel industry, we constructed a diesel platform truck with 25.000 kg payload. The vehicle is design-
ed for transporting rollers in a rolling mill. It features a loading area of 4.200 mm x 2.250 mm which is equipped with a spe-
cial transport rack to hold the rollers. Despite its total length
of 5.700 mm, the vehicle has an amazingly tight turning ra-
dius of only 7.120 mm. To enable easy maneuvering even in small spaces, the vehicle is equipped with a video rear-view system to give the driver optimal visibility toward the back. Power is provided by a strong Deutz diesel engine with 90
KW and 4.040 ccm volume. In conjunction with the hydrostatic drive, this allows for a maximum drawbar pull of 40.000 N.

For a customer from the textile industry we developed a diesel platform truck with 15.000 kg payload. The vehicle is designed for the transport of containers and is equipped with hydraulic lifting gear for the raising and lowering of containers.

For a German steel conglomerate, we built a diesel platform truck with a 8.000 kg payload. To enable the vehicle to carry bulky items as well, its loading area is lengthened to 3.50 meters and widened to 1.70 meters. For extra-long cargos, such as steel rods, the vehicle also has a through-loading facility next to the driver’s cab (through-loading length: 4.70 meters, through-loading width: 0.75 meters).

For a German port operator, we built a diesel platform truck with a raised working platform and cab. This is used in the container terminal for inspecting overseas containers and is functionally designed for one-man operation. The vehicle has a working platform at a height of approx. 1.20 meters, which can be reached at ground level from the driver’s cab. The raised working position and numerous headlamps make it easy to read the required data from the containers. If neces-
sary, the driver can also fold up the railings in order to enter the containers or rail cars for inspection purposes.

For an Austrian airport operator, we built diesel platform trucks with a ground power unit (GPU) mounted on the loading area. This vehicle is used to provide electrical power for aircraft on the ground. These vehicles were built in colla-
boration with renowned GPU manufacturers, who mounted their GPU’s on the basic vehicles specially designed by
VOLK for this purpose.

For an Austrian steel producer, we built diesel platform trucks with a loading area extended to 3.00 meters. Depending on the application, these vehicles are also equipped with a through-loading facility next to the driver’s cab (through-
loading length: 4.20 meters, through-loading width: 0.45 meters) or a loading crane attachment.
