For a customer in the packaging industry, we manufactured
an electric tow tractor with a hydraulic fifth wheel coupling specifically for emission-free transportation of heavy-duty
semi-trailers within closed working areas. Especially during shuttling operations when the driver needs to get on and off the vehicle frequently, the low entry height of only 45 cm
proves to be very advantageous. Since the driver can raise
and lower the coupling plate from the comfort of the driver’s cab, it becomes unnecessary to crank the trailer up and down manually.

At one German automobile manufacturer, pre-assembled convertible roofs arrive by freight truck. Once delivered, a single VOLK Electric Tow Tractor, with a mechanical fifth wheel coupling, drives the completely loaded semi-trailer directly to the production line for unloading. This allows the parts to be handled only once, thus avoiding having to inter-
rupt the material flow and the consequent loss of time.
Being much more economical in cost, a mechanical fifth wheel coupling is especially recommendable when frequent coupling is not required.

A customer in the automobile industry commissioned us to develop an electric tow tractor capable of carrying a 16.000 kg towed load up a 10 percent grade. This is the equivalent to a maximum towing capacity of approx. 50.000 kg on level ground. The vehicle is equipped with two traction batteries with a total capacity of 80 V / 1.400 Ah to cover the farthest distances possible, even under the maximum load.

For the purpose of transporting articles of value at the Zurich International Airport, we have developed a bulletproof VOLK Electric Tow Tractor. The so-called "Treasure Cars" are ar-
mored according to armoring level B4, and can thus with-
stand a shot coming from a medium range handgun (e.g.,
.44 Magnum). The entire driver’s cab was built with massive armor panels and equipped with centimeter-thick safety
glass. The door lock cylinder, which is likewise bullet-proof, locks itself automatically when the door closes. By means of
a GPS positioning system, the vehicles can be permanently kept under surveillance throughout the vast airport grounds.
A video rear view system makes the vehicle easier to ma-
neuver, permitting the drivers to see the space behind them.

mensions and a tight turning radius and are suitable for tow-
