Bad Waldsee, 14.12.2009 – The year 2009 is slowly drawing to a close and once again we are in the middle of the Advent season. We are still rushing about, attend-
ing to those few final items and errands, but Christmas and the turn of the year, a time for reflection and peace-
fulness, will soon be here.

We wish our customers, suppliers, cooperation partners and employees a blessed and peaceful holiday season as well as good luck and good health in the new year 2010. At the same time we would like to thank them for the trust they have shown in our company and look forward to a good cooperation also in the coming year.

Traditionally the time before the end of the year is also used for looking back on the ups and downs of the closing year and previewing future developments and goals. Without doubt 2009 was a year full of challenges. The global financial crisis, economists agree, was the severest economic blow since the Second World War. Many capital goods manufacturers were very severely

affected by this crisis because equipment investments naturally fluctuate more extremely than other components of aggregate demand.

VOLK was not able to elude this development completely, either; however the pompously apocalyptic tenor, which was in vogue this year, is totally lost on us. On the contrary: VOLK will be one of the few companies to emerge from the current crisis in a financially and strategically stronger position. Also in 2009 VOLK operated profitably and increased its excellent equity ratio yet again. The production and cost structures strictly trimmed to flexibility and efficiency over the past boom years were the decisive factors for this excellent result.




	Powerful start into the New Year – VOLK has increased its equity ratio also in this year of crisis 2009

	Available capacities were utilized to work on the continu- ous development of our product range and the optimiza- tion of our technical infrastructure with great vigor. In the middle of the crisis, some of our staff put in quite a bit of overtime to get our innovations off the ground. Thus VOLK is optimally prepared when economic develop- ment starts gathering speed again in the coming year. Together we have achieved quite a lot again this year, too. Therefore it is a special responsibility for us to thank everyone involved for their extraordinary commitment at this point.
